Well it looks like Maverick's owner Mark Cuban will not be allowed to purchase the Cubs. The Chicago Tribune has reported that Cuban will have a tough time getting approved by Commissioner Bud Selig. It's quite a shame. I think Cuban could have been good for the Cubs in a few ways.
1.) Cuban would have turned the Cubs into a more national product that they currently are. Just like we have Red Sox nation, the Cubs would have gained more fans across the country.
2.) Cuban cares more about winning than making money. He turned one of the worst teams in the NBA into a perennial playoff team every year in the Dallas Mavericks. He would have spent as much money as it took to turn the Cubs into World Series champions.
3.) The Cubs need someone to spice things up. The NFL has Jerry Jones. The NBA has Cuban. The Yankees have the Steinbrenners. One thing those guys have in common: They win.

I think it's an absolute shame that the Cubs aren't allowed to sell the team to the person they want to. That doesn't even include the fact that Cuban is probably the best person for the job.
Bud Selig has his "good old boys" club and if you aren't a member...too bad. Who cares that Cuban would only help baseball, but since Big Bud doesn't like him it won't happen.
My opinion...let the highest and best bidder win and deal with it Bud.
Three reasons to hate Bud Selig:
3. He's a tool.
2. He used to own the Brewers.
1. He's making Cubs fans unhappy by not letting us have Cuban!
