ESPN IS REPORTING THAT THE CUBS HAVE RE-SIGNED RICH HARDEN FOR THE 2009 SEASON. HE HAD A CLUB OPTION AFTER BEING TRADED FROM OAKLAND TO THE CUBS MID-SEASON.
He will earn $7 million next season. Harden's shoulder was examined before the Cubs decided to pick up his option.
General Manager Jim Hendry and other members of the organization will make plans for the off season at team's club meetings on October 19 in Mesa, Arizona.

Let's hope he can have a full season free of injury and then maybe we can see just how effective he can truly be.
I think he'll be fine if he doesn't throw his breaking stuff, which apparently was the cause of most of his arm trouble.
Or maybe he just stopped spanking it?
ASSIGNMENT - An easy one: What do you do with Fukudome this off-season?
p.s. Good work on the breaking news.
I'm thinking the same thing as Jaffe. IF (and that's a big if) he can stay healthy we will easily have two aces which every contender needs. I just don't know if he can stay off the DL given his history. The Cubs used him the right way this season, but he was still having some issues before the postseason. The verdict is still out on him, but $7 million is nothing to the Cubs so it was a no-brainer. Let's all just say a prayer for him going into next year.
